About this property

Welcome to The White Hart Inn

The White Hart Inn is a traditional inn and bed & breakfast tucked away in the village of Horncastle, offering a relaxed and informal setting that reflects its historic charm. The atmosphere leans towards an authentic English pub experience, with a bar featuring an open wood fire and a welcoming environment where guests frequently mention the friendly and accommodating staff. The property is noted for its pet and kid-friendly amenities, including free Wi-Fi, free breakfast, and free parking, making it suitable for families and visitors traveling with pets.

Accommodation here is straightforward and clean, though basic, matching the reasonable pricing highlighted in guest reviews. While some visitors describe the public areas as a bit dated and less polished, this adds to the inn's character rather than detracting from the overall experience. The onsite restaurant and bar serve hearty, homely food with positive feedback about offerings such as burgers and Sunday lunches, though some caution that meal wait times can vary, reflecting a focus on freshly prepared dishes.

Guests appreciate the location for access to nearby attractions like the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre, Snipe Dales, and Bolingbroke Castle, making it a practical base for sightseeing and exploring the surrounding countryside. Reviews note a warm, community feel, with the inn acting as a local hub and a genuine countryside retreat, despite lacking some modern hotel conveniences such as a fitness center or air conditioning.

Overall, The White Hart Inn appeals to travelers looking for a cozy, unpretentious place with character, especially those who value a traditional pub atmosphere and a friendly welcome over luxury. It suits those aiming to enjoy rural Lincolnshire’s scenic and historic offerings while staying somewhere that embraces its village roots and practical comforts.

The food was really good, was lovely and tasty, you may have to wait a bit for food, but that's what you do if you want it fresh . its a lovely relaxed atmosphere, the staff are friendly, nothings too much trouble . I was with my friends from Holland , who always go there every time they come over. They love the older style of a typical English pub that serves good food. A very enjoyable time. Thank you to all the staff seeing us yesterday.

A very old school English place. Great value. Downstairs is a bit grubby long but don't let that put you off - the rooms are perfectly clean. Atmosphere and ambience in the bar reminds me of pubs from when I was a kid, before they started trying way too hard.

This is an old building that's been lovingly looked after to keep all it's quirkiness and charm. It's not the polished, glossy, high end staple which is so popular now, but is a true escape from All Of That. It's a warm, relaxed, comfortable, and genuinely easy place to be in. This working public home and local hub has become what it is organically. It's a glimpse in to the life of this lively little village nestling in beautiful rolling countryside, and is very much one of a kind. Here you relax from a ramble or a long working day with dogs at your feet, supping a craft beer in front of the open wood fire in the bar, on the great settle that looks as old as the pub itself. Or perhaps you'd prefer to sit in the tea room - take a couch by the log burner, with exotic birds and maybe even the chirp of new chicks hatching (closely guarded by the house cats). If you prefer it more formal dine in the restaurant, or if less so, escape to the games room. You can even visit the families of exotic birds and rabbits out the back, while watching the horses being brought in to the yard. Maybe you'll catch a live music night - they put on a mix of great local acts here - nothing heavy, but a wide range from acoustic to reggae, we saw a great acoustic duo. This place is a glimpse of what hides in the Wolds, and the fact it exists at all really is warmth for the soul. We will be coming back.

Great service, Friendly & happy staff, made me feel really comfortable. 2 faults, They didn't have the 2 foods I ordered, so I was brought something else & charged 50p extra. 2nd issue is that my food was thin and ripped, not toasted enough either. Lovely breakers meal tho, thank you.

Very welcoming, excellent Sunday lunch and wonderful location. I really don't think you could find a more comprehensive countryside pub anywhere else. Helped to make my Father's Day a day I'll treasure, thanks.

A great pub in a lovely area. From the moment we walked into the bar we felt like locals, the Landlord and staff are lunatics but in the best possible way, lovely people. The rooms are basic which is reflected in the price, but everything works as it should.
